The growing and far-reaching impact of economics continually shapes OSU's Department of Economics. As a result, we create:
- A responsive curriculum addressing fresh perspectives on current issues such as diversity economics, economics of sports, economics of war, economics of crime, economics of the internet and media, population economics and freakonomics. Economics also provides interdisciplinary minors for students interested in economic history, political economy and game theory.

- An interactive learning environment with two Economics Computer Labs and an Economics Experiment Lab where economics games are conducted to learn about individual economic behaviors
- The Undergraduate Economics Society, offering a dues-free society that fosters interaction with peers and faculty
- Our Economics Learning Center, providing free peer tutoring to undergraduates

One-on-one with our best and brightest
Not only are economics students being trained by some of the most distinguished experts in the field, they also get one-on-one opportunities to engage with what we believe are the best and brightest minds in Economics today.
- In the past two years, three Nobel Prize winners – George Akerloff, James Heckman, and Josephy Stigliz – presented their papers to our students and faculty.
- Economics alumni such as Keith Monda, the COO of Coach, and Augie Cenname, Vice President of Merrill Lynch, visited and spent time with undergraduates last year to talk about what a career in economics is really all about.
- Our students attend weekly workshops on macroeconomics, applied microeconomics, econometrics, and micro-theory, featuring distinguished scholars from other universities to further broaden their perspective on the field.
